Chocolat Chaud at the Regina Hotel
Paris certainly isn’t short of tea rooms offering sinfully indulgent hot chocolate yet whilst every tourist may know about Angelina, they often forego the lesser known yet equally luxurious spots. As it so happened on this particular day my Mum and I were en route to Angelina when I spotted the recognisable Laduree patisserie counter through a window into an extremely plush lounge area. On a spontaneous whim we forfeited the original plan and embraced the unknown, entering through a curtain into a beautiful hotel lobby, in what felt like discovering Narnia at the back of your wardrobe. The Regina hotel offers a range of Laduree patisseries but more to the point a delicious chocolat chaud, sweet yet not sickly and creamy yet not too thick. It was just what we needed to lift our spirits on a cold Sunday. We hired velibs around the corner and as we cycled down rue du Rivoli we smiled to ourselves as we saw the long queue to Angelina snake all the way down the road.
