Arriving in Bagan in the pitch black I found myself overwhelmed with curiosity at what the landscape would look like in the daylight. Bleary eyed and sleep deprived, I got off the night bus and went straight to a pagoda to watch the sunrise. Sat in the darkness, I could just about make out a skyline pierced by silhouette pagodas under a starry sky. As the sun rose a golden landscape bathed in light unfurled before my eyes. Mesmerised by the magical sight, I made a vow to myself not to miss a single sunrise whilst in Bagan.
