Mamie Gâteaux

Mamie Gâteaux is the kind of place which makes you feel instantly at home, the smell of home-made scones whiffs from the kitchen and the warmth of hot oven air welcomes you from the rain outside. On this very wet weekend in Paris I couldn’t imagine a lovelier place to escape the April showers and chat over endless cups of tea. Everything about the place makes you feel as though you’re cuddled up on the sofa, being spoiled with love and care by your grandma. You’ll find a wide selection of home-baked cakes which may prove tough to decide among and if that’s the case then the cafe gourmand will solve all your issues offering a variety of the cakes in miniature form. I’d heard only wonderful things about their crumble, and the savoury one really took my fancy but unfortunately they didn’t have any left, however Tricia ordered the sweet one and said it was yummy. The lunch menu goes pretty quickly so getting there early is recommended. If you like your coffee large, then you’ll be grateful of the large bowl of hot frothy coffee which you’ll be served with a smile.

Oh yes I do know what you mean – sometimes the cliches are just too pretty not to photograph – I fear that I too photograph Laduree/ Angelina a little too much I completely agree with you about the over exposure
