Wadi Bani Khalid
An oasis of flowing emerald waters nestled deep within a valley. You could easily spend the whole day here sunbathing and swimming through narrow crevices where the sunlight dances off the rocks.

Nizwa Fort
Located in the old capital, Nizwa Fort offers views over the city’s traditional souq and grand mosque. Much of the 17th century fort and castle have been restored to their former glory.

Wahiba sands
Mile after mile of undulating sand dunes make up the Wahiba Sands desert. For an authentic experience, spend a night in a Bedouin tent and take a camel ride at sunrise through the vast desert. If you’re lucky your camp will light a fire and offer Omani tea so you can stargaze late into the night and enjoy the utter silence.

Shaded by leafy date palms, the walk to wadi sham is beautiful. Take a small boat across the water and then follow a path built into the cliff face until you reach a glimmering emerald oasis to cool down in.

Jebel Al Akhdar
The fabled green mountains are the second highest point in the Middle East and offer a glimpse into traditional Omani life. Local villages are perched atop the cliff edge and age old irrigation systems are still used to grow fruit and vegetables. Spring is the ideal time to visit when the apricot blossoms begin to flower, the scent of Damascan roses fills the air and the cool mountain climate ensures it never feels too hot.

Jebel Shams
The highest mountain range in the Middle East, Jebel Shams is a must visit whilst in Oman. The Balcony Walk clings along the canyon’s edge and offers unparalleled views over the mountain scape. More adventurous travellers can attempt the summit hike which takes about 6 hours to reach the top.

Bimmah sink hole
Framed by mountainous rock formations and swaying date palms, this natural sink hole will take your breath away. When the sun is high enough in the sky, the water sparkles in shades of topaz and sapphire. The water is deep enough to jump in from the naturally formed ledges that encircle the water.
