Roma

Truthfully speaking I wasn’t really expecting to like Rome, people had forewarned me of scams and graffiti and after hearing everybody’s advice I was set up to be disappointed by the Italian capital. Maybe low expectations are the key to success when visiting new places because this way I ended up being blown away. Sure there are con-artists to watch out for and graffiti on the walls but this didn’t taint my visit in the slightest. For me the charm of Rome lies in the burnt orange architecture with its rundown paintwork, the verandas overflowing with flowers and the doors which are all beautiful and unique in their own way, not forgetting the divine smell of Italian food which haunts your nostrils on every street corner.

I’ve visited Rome once and I’d probably have been one of those people who gave you a negative impression of it! I’m glad you enjoyed it though, your photos are beautiful. Low expectations definitely do help with enjoying a city – I disliked Paris the first time I visited so went a second time with low expectations, and ended up having a blast.

I absolutely agree, some people really dislike Paris on their first visit which is probably a combination of high expectations and the standard tourist attractions which can be disappointing. I am thrilled that you returned and loved it though as Paris is too beautiful not to be enjoyed

The city looks so beautiful and golden, such a waste that it gets covered in graffiti! I’m glad your experience was a positive one, it looks magical.

One of my favorite things about Rome is the colors – and your pictures capture those rich, warm hues so beautifully :)

Thank you so much you’re so sweet. Yes I completely agree those auburn and burnt orange tones are so beautiful
