City Breaks

Sunset at Sacré Cœur

I feel truly blessed to have seen some magnificent sunsets in my life, and whilst there is something extraordinary about a sunset on some exotic island nothing quite beats watching the sun go down over the city which you call home. The familiar skyline highlights all of the monuments which you know so well flooding your mind with thousands of memories. A view over Paris is always like a visual map of memories for me, I cannot look anywhere without remembering a precise moment in time which had me in fits of laughter or floods of tears. On this particular afternoon we all stood together with a view of Paris in front of us and the basilica behind us, reminiscing over fun times. All the while I couldn’t help but reflect on the beautiful moment which we were living in, which would one day become a beautiful memory to be remembered forever and to be pointed out onto the map which makes up my life in Paris. The sunset kept getting better and better; what started off as an ethereal pink glow warming up the grey buildings soon turned to a ferocious orange which made it look as though the buildings were on fire. It was a cold evening, so we rubbed our hands together to keep warm because none of us could bare to leave before the sun had set deep into the sky.

So gorgeous!! I am such a sucker for a good sunset :) Sadly it was very snowy and overcast on my short little trip to Paris so I never got to see the way the city glows like this, but this post will perfectly suffice until I make it back one day!

Oh no I suppose that just means you’ll have to come back sooner than intended! Hopefully on your next trip it’ll be clearer and if so make sure to head up to Montmartre to see the views. Thank you for your kind words

I know it was such a beautiful view over Paris – the first and last photo were actually taken at an apartment that Haliegh was staying in for a couple of days

So magical! This brings me back to that wonderful time I lived at the bottom of Montmartre and was able to walk up to the top of the hill to watch this sunset as the fall days shortened into winter ones. I so wish I was still around the corner and could have joined you on this beautiful evening!

I was thinking to myself that my photos didn’t do it justice – I always find that sunsets are one thing much better seen in person

I can never get enough of pink sunsets of Paris, these are such beautiful photos, Faye!
When I was in highschool I always thought I when I go back to Paris I’ll definetely live in a nice colorful studio in Montmartre and listened to La Boheme while daydreaming. Hahah I had such a big ambition!! But seeing this beauty that you displayed here, I wasn’t that silly afterall.

Thanks for the amazing post

Xx

Thank you so much for your sweet words Asli! The one thing I’ve learnt so far is that you’ve got to do what makes you happy and follow your dreams so one day I don’t doubt you’ll end up in that dream apartment of yours in Monmartre

Awww thanks for your good wishes!! Thanks a lot! The problem with Paris, it remains so beautiful and nice in your memories you easily forget the negative sides. Idea of living in Montmartre dreads me now with its crowded narrow streets. I can’t imagine myself running errands there.

I also like my latest neighborhood a lot. Even though it’s one of the most touristy districts I don’t feel the touristiness at all. I love line 6, it connects to everywhere and gives an easy access to Orly airport. I guess if I had to choose again I would still pick 15eme.
