City Breaks

Angelina in the Tuileries

The other day we had a crisp Sunday morning in Paris, the kind of day which hints to winter having slowly but surely arrived. The one (perhaps sole) advantage of winter is being able to drink hot chocolate guilt-free, if you don’t indulge during the colder months you never will. The remedy to kill those winter blues is to do something fun which will get you excited to leave the house, something which only cold weather permits. For me there must always be chocolat chaud involved. There is something magical about sitting in the opulent tea rooms at Angelina but there is something even sweeter about taking your treats to go and perching on one of the steel green chairs in the gardens just opposite. The warming and filling properties of the little paper cup of steaming hot chocolate are all the more effective when you’re exposed to the cold outside. The city felt empty on this particular Sunday; perhaps it was the grey sky tempting people to stay indoors; perhaps it was too early for the tourists to come out and play; nonetheless the eerily quiet streets were much appreciated by us – we felt like Paris was just ours for a short while.

Thank you I know I feel slightly suffocated when you’re battling your way through the streets so it was a nice surprise to see it so quiet

What a perfect little pastry! YES winter was made for hot chocolate. :) Especially if it’s from Angelina!

And I have to say, those earmuffs are too cute!
